Guam Department of Labor spokeswoman Hannah Cho said Lost Wages Act unemployment money batched for payment to qualified recipients last week should start hitting bank accounts today.
"Direct deposits should be hitting accounts today," Ms. Cho told Kandit News.
GDOL batched $4.7 million last week for payment today. The agency is preparing another batch for payment next week on December 8.
The LWA, a program created by President Trump, provides qualified recipients with an additional $300 in weekly unemployment aid. On Guam, the program is funded for up to six weeks of unemployment, or up to $1,800 in benefits. To qualify for LWA, claimants must receive at least $100 in PUA. Dates covered are weeks ending Aug. 1 to Sept. 5.
