Suspected murderer watched police from crime scene perimeter

By Nancy I. Maanao

Pictures of the murder crime scene in Dededo taken by the victim's family between 4:10 p.m. and 4:35 p.m. Thursday show Matthew Manibusan, the suspected murderer, watching the police investigation from the taped perimeter.

One of the pictures even shows a police officer speaking to Mr. Manibusan.

The family members could only take distant shots of Manibusan at the edge of the crime scene because police officers would not allow them to get any closer even though the man who would become the suspect was camped at the tape line.

At 11:21 a.m. Friday, police spokesman Sgt. Paul Tapao issued a news release announcing Manibusan was arrested for the murder of Joshua Meno, 25, of Dededo.

"Through the course of the investigation, detectives conducted interviews and learned of the events that transpired," the GPD release stated. "A 36-year-old Matthew San Agustin Manibusan, was identified as a person of interest regarding this case investigation."

Manibusan then was transported to GPD Headquarters in Tiyan for an interview. He was later arrested for murder, aggravated assault, use of a deadly weapon in the commission of a felony, unlawful discharge of a firearm, possession of a firearm without valid identification, unsworn falsification, and reckless conduct.

"Detectives were able to locate and confiscated a gun that was possibly used in this incident. Matthew San Agustin Manibusan was subsequently booked and confined at the Department of Corrections. This case has been forwarded to the Office of the Attorney General for prosecution." - GPD news release on the murder of Joshua Meno
