Sen. Regine Biscoe Lee, the Democratic senator who chose to leave elective office at the end of this year, says she hopes Superior Court of Guam Judge Maria Cenzon is confirmed to be the next chief judge of the U.S. District Court of Guam.
"Judge Cenzon is an emblem of the American dream, and a servant leader who inspires our entire community. She has done so much good through her work at a local level. I pray she gets the chance to bring the same energy and commitment to the federal judicial system, and becomes the first Filipina to preside over this court." - Sen. Regine Biscoe Lee
Ms. Cenzon was appointed by President Trump. She will replace Frances Tydingco-Gatewood, if confirmed by the U.S. Senate.
Several island leaders and both major political parties have expressed their excitement about her appointment and pending confirmation.
