The Las Vegas Review Journal is reporting the shooting death of a 22-year-old man, and the injury of a 23-year-old woman and an 18-year-old man believed to be from the same Chamorro family living in Las Vegas.

Although the Las Vegas Review Journal does not name the victims, they were identified by their father, former Barrigada resident Kevin Mendiola. Mr. Mendiola today asked family and friends on social media for prayers and announced his two sons were shot as well as the girlfriend of his oldest son. The shooting took place on Thanksgiving in Nevada. According to Mr. Mendiola, his oldest son, Kevin Mendiola, Jr., did not survive. He stated his younger son was in surgery and is expected to survive. Kevin Jr.'s girlfriend also was shot and is expected to live.

"Pls. Pls. Pray for my Family on this Thanksgiving Day," Mr. Mendiola wrote on his Facebook page. "Hug your Family and tell them you Love them. My Sons always tells everyone they Love them. Take care of Sonya my Boy. We are devastated but we Know You Are Gods Arms right now. Love you my Boy. I'll take care of your Brother, Sister and Mom while you keep watch from up above, even tho things will never be the same."

According to the Journal, Henderson, Nevada police were called to a shooting incident at 12:54 a.m. Thanksgiving at the 7-eleven convenience store on East Lake Mead Parkway at Center Street.

Authorities are investigating to determine whether this incident is related to a series of drive-by shootings that occurred hours later in Arizona.

"Henderson police said the Arizona Department of Public Safety arrested suspects in the Henderson shooting on unrelated charges near Parker, Arizona, and Arizona authorities said they were investigating a string of shootings there.

"Shots were fired during the suspects’ arrests. One suspect was airlifted to a hospital, La Paz County, Arizona, Sheriff William Risen said in an e-mail to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

"'They are handling multiple shooting scenes,' Risen said of authorities in Arizona." - Las Vegas Review Journal, story by Glen Puit

Three suspects have been taken into custody.
