(Tumon, Guam) The Japan Meteorological Association has upgraded the storm east-southeast of Guam to Tropical Depression 29W. The storm, according to meteorologists, may reach tropical storm strength when it makes its closest point of approach to Guam some time Wednesday.
The agency recommends the residents of Guam and Rota watch this development carefully.
Tropical Depression 29W is a large weather system. It is slowly intensifying as it moves west-northwest quickly toward Guam.
